Forwarding Full Mail Headers
The header information can be extremely helpful to determining from where a message originated. Instructions below to learn how to view and forward full mail headers with your mail client.
Note: Currently MS Outlook and Apple Mail are fully supported |
MS Outlook 2003
- Start MS Outlook 2003 and double click the message to get it in its own window.
- Go to the View menu and select Options.
- Right click in the Internet Headers box and choose Select All.
- Right click again in the Internet Headers box and choose Copy.
MS Outlook Express
- Start MS Outlook Express and double click the message for display in its own window.
- Go to the File menu and select Properties.
- Click the Details tab to view the header.
- Right click in the Internet Headers box and choose Select All.
- Right click again in the Internet Headers box and choose Copy.
Apple Mail
- Start Apple Mail.
- Go to the View menu and select Message and then Long Headers.
Eudora
- Start Eudora.
- Double click on the message to view.
- Click the button, directly above the message. This should expand the headers.
Google Mail (Gmail)
- Click on the More options command near the top of a message.
- Click on the Show original command near the end of the list of command options.
Mozilla Thunderbird
- Start Mozilla Thunderbird.
- Go to the View menu and select Headers and then All.
Pine
Note: Pine may not be initially configured to view full headers. |
To set up Pine to view full headers:
- Type M to go to main menu.
- Type S to enter setup screen.
- Type C to configure features.
- Press the space bar to page down until you see:
[] enable-full-header-cmd
- Cursor down to this and type X to set.
- Type E to exit and they Y to accept changes.
- When viewing message, type H to view full headers.
